An avid reader of the James SA Corey books, I wasn't quite sure to make of the Camina Drummer character when she was first introduced in the exciting science-fiction series "The Expanse." Initially, I found her character to be a bit flat and not quite as integrated into the familiar blend of characters I had become accustomed to. As the second season ended, I didn't pay the character much thought as I began thinking of which character I would select to kick off my "The Expanse" art series.
But then season three happened. Suddenly, this Drummer character took on a new life. Playing equal and opposite of David Strathairn (depending on which scene in which episode), Cara Gee portrayed the character of Camina Drummer with passion, strength and vulnerability that didn't come through in the previous season. I was hooked, and had to know more about this performer.
From there, I found the "Strange Empire" series, and watched the entire singular season in a week, all the while working on the idea for a new art original that, 70 hours of drawing later, would finally become the work you see on this page.
Entirely hand-drawn using technical pens and the highest quality black India ink, this is the first in my new art series planned for 2019. Already, I have several other characters in mind but I haven't decided who will be next ... so many great actors and characters to choose from.
A very limited run of 25 prints is available for $39 each, numbered and hand-signed by the artist. Details below. The original is also still available. You can't match the quality of an original, where every pen stroke stands out in relief, adding dimension and life to the work. This is the first in a new series. If they sell, the work continues and new work is added to the series. If not, I do something else. It's just a fact of life. I appreciate your support.
Meanwhile, as a Belter might say: Yam seng!

Technical pens were the mainstay of the designer and illustrator's craft before the development of computer graphics. Now, many art enthusiasts are rediscovering the technical pen because its handiwork stands out almost magically against the bland precision of computer rendered graphics. My work has always been produced with the best technical pens and durable India inks available.
REPRINTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! An hand-signed, numbered series of only 25 prints will be sold. The prints measure 15x20 inches on heavy stock, suitable for framing. They are shipped Priority Mail (USPS) rolled in a sturdy mailing tube to US addresses only. The cost is $39 each and includes shipping. To order, send $39 via Paypal to email@example.com. Inquiries may also be sent to that address. Please note that with reprints, exact color reproduction is not possible and contrasts are not quite as good as the original. That's why they cost less than buying an original. But all the clarity and detail is there. :)
