Lights in the Night

  • Photo of Jupiter through an 8" Meade LX200

I've been an amateur astronomer since childhood when, as a young man, I was fortunate to have a kind man come to my home once a week to tutor me. He always brought his large Celestron 8 telescope and I developed a love of astrophotography. This went on for years. Like I said, I was very fortunate.

Today, 35 years later, I am still as passionate about it as ever.

This is a photo of Jupiter I got from my Port Orchard, Washington back yard on April 1, 2016. There really are no words to describe it, so I won't even attempt to. I will tell you that it was taken with an 8" Meade LX200 telescope and a Celestron Skyris cam.

I created an astronomy website, Friends with Telescopes. I post a lot of my work there, and others do to. Be sure to take a look if you share this interest!

LIGHTS IN THE NIGHT
(Flash and the Pan)

Sitting in the kitchen
Coffee on the boil
Staring at the bacon
Goodbye olive oil
Think another feeling
Have another smoke
I've got money in my pocket
But I'm feeling broke

Try to read a paper
Try to read a book
Walk another circle
Hanging on a hook
Talking to the ceiling
Feeling kinda ill
If the radio doesn't get me
The TV will

Lights
Shiny bright
What's it like
In the light
Come down
Lights in the night
Come on down
Lights in the night

Standing by the window
Balance on the brink
Kiss another bottle
Sink another drink
Throw away the feeling
Throw away the pill
If the bottle doesn't get me
The thinking will

Lights
Shiny bright
What's it like
In the light
Come down
Lights in the night
It's easy to believe
Lights in the night
